"Sara, Sara, wherever we travel, we're never apart"

My best friend from California came to visit me last week end, I therefore had to write a little piece devoted to her. Sorry, but I'm writing this post in English so that Sara is able to understand it and, on the other hand, you people need to practice!
Let me tell you a little bit Sara. I first met her at lunch break, at school, in Lake Elsinore. Talking with adults was easy, but once surrounded by teenagers, it was a hell of a difference! Let's just say that my nickname could have been "wallflower" instead of French Frie.
I was sitting among other people when this girl came up and started to speak to me very slowly and loudly. I felt a little dumb that I had to tell her that I wasn't deaf or slow, I was just French! This is how it all started...

I won't tell you everything that happened during that year, because it would take too long. I would just say that it was soooooooooooo much fun being with her, singing our lungs out on Bob Dylan's songs (hence the quotation above), talking about existential subejcts such as boys, French VS Americans, religion and again God (yeah, we talked about that a lot lol). She was very supportive concerning my horrible (Mormon) host family and she welcomed me into her house so many times that I had to tell the Goodales that we went camping so that they wouldn't find it suspicious.

I came back to visit a few times after I went back to France, but soon, I couldn't afford it, and it's not the same when you go see people than when you live there.
After five years of not seeing each other, we still kept in touch, and finally few months ago, Sara announced me that she was going to Cambridge for three weeks and that she would come visit me for a week end! I was so excited!
She arrived on Thursday evening and left on Sunday. It went by so fast! She got to meet some of my friends, best friend and boyfriend but it was short. I wanted to show her everything but we ran out of time and ended up doing so few of what I had hoped. Nonetheless, it was still so much fun to see her, and amazing to realize that we still got along so well after so much time. As Sara said: " we could be stuck in the desert for days and still have a great time, just because we are together."

When she left, I felt empty somehow. What a shame that we don't live in the same continent. I am already missing her so much, and I am really hoping that we won't wait another five years to meet again...

Goodbye my darling.
